so lately i have been reading through genises just to see what some of God's characteristics are form the beginning. today i kinda decided to read about eiljah instead, just to see how he was a man of God. after reading i began praying and realized what an awsome judge God is. i dont understand his judgements alot of times. but he is just. powerful. yet merciful.
He can make nations crumble. burn cities with fire. distroy wicked households. yet he will listen to a slave woman(haggar) when she calls on his name. He will stop the distruction of a wicked king(ahab) because he humbles himself. Haggar was not the choosen line, yet when she cried out to God he saved her and blessed her line. these people are not close to the heros of the bible. ahab was one of Israels worst kings and God had mercy when he humbled himself.
As terrifing as the picture of God being the Judge is, his mercy is so great. I see and know that he has distroyed nations for their wickedness. I know he will punish sin. I know that I am have sinned that i am equal with ahab. I know that their story is my story. I also know now that God will have mercy when i cry to him. that is awsome. All i have to do is ask and believe. mercy
